Position Summary
The Workflow Analyst is responsible for analyzing business processes, evaluating their fit for Ellucian Workflow and ultimately, implementing Ellucian Workflows for institutions within the Alabama Community College system. The workflow system will assist business units to streamline their processes and continue to support and strengthen the mission of the Alabama Community College system. Aspects of this job will include technical troubleshooting of workflow processes, design of business processes within the ProcessMaker and Ellucian Workflow environment as well as programming of flows and helper processes in languages such as PHP and JavaScript. Troubleshooting can consist of basic to deep analysis of processes and procedures as well as data to determine the cause and fix of the issue at hand.
The Workflow Analyst coordinates with the ERP technical team, the functional analysts at the Alabama Community College System Office, as well as the teams at the individual community colleges within the OneACCS system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Tailor Ellucian Workflow and interconnected software solutions to meet institutional requirements.
- Consult with supervisor, other analyst/programmers, and end-users to develop workflows using functional design specifications and gather information about; intent, functions, features; data requirements, input requirements, and output requirements; internal and external checks and controls.
- Develop and modify technical documentation to support workflow maintenance, operations, and end-user training.
- Develop technical specifications, code and test plans that meet defined standards and procedures.
- Create test plans, test data and conduct unit testing for all programming assignments to ensure workflows are working correctly prior to release.
- Modify existing programs based on approved business needs or upgrade requirements as required.
- Work with the appropriate team members and or the client, as appropriate, to recommend the most efficient design for the modifications.
- Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about workflows.
- Train end-users or technical support staff to use workflows.
SECONDARY DUTIES: - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of business processes and best practices within Higher Education.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of upgrades to the ERP system and other related software.
- Supports Grants Management Systems at the Alabama Community College System Office. Any other duties assigned as needed.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED IN JOB: Operating Systems: Window or Macintosh desktop platforms and Software Systems: Banner, SQL, PHP and JavaScript programming languages.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- BA/BS degree from a regionally accredited institution in Computer Science or a related field and eight (8) years directly experience
- OR - MA/MS degree from a regionally accredited institution in Computer Science or a related field and four (4) years of directly related experience. - Programming Experience (JavaScript and PHP).
PREFERRED: - Knowledge of the Ellucian Banner functional/technical area processes related to Finance, Payroll, HR, Student Services, Financial Aid, academic policies, and procedures, and capability of providing quality end-user consultation and support.
- Experience with third party tools such as Argos.
- Demonstrated experience with Ellucian Integration Architecture (Ellucian Ethos Data Model APIs, Business Process APIs) as well as typical REST architecture.
