Job description
Our law firm has a full-time associate attorney position available now and we’re looking for the right professional to join our team. You will have the opportunity to learn from senior associates and litigation associates on legal issues and will provide legal counsel to existing clients. You’ll also be responsible for performing legal research, drafting documents, and keeping client files up to date. Responsibilities:
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
- Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff
- Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently
- Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action
- Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
- Your daily tasks would vary and consist of all aspects of working cases in the litigation process from the filing of the Summons and Complaint to the completion of the settlement or verdict. You must be able to work with others and enjoy leading. You must be a kind and thoughtful person whom clients and coworkers can depend on.
Qualifications:
- Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base
- Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam
- Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
We are looking for someone who knows personal injury law and has handled all aspects of the litigation process including discovery, depositions, arbitrations, motions, mediations, trials, etc. This is Not the position for a first-year associate, out-of-state attorney, or person looking to change practice areas.
