Job description

The Mortgage AI & Analytics Lead will sit within the Mortgage MIS and Data Science team at Flagstar Bank and assist in identifying AI technology solutions and model development for advanced data analysis. The Mortgage MIS and Data Science team is responsible for driving organizational transformation and growth using data, analytics, and AI/ML. Flagstar Bank is the 8th largest bank originator of residential mortgages and 5th largest sub-servicer of mortgage loans nationwide. This position can work out of our Troy, MI or Hicksville, NY office or be remote nationwide.

• Identify use cases and assist in implementing AI technology solutions across the mortgage organization in partnership with the business unit, IT and other stakeholders.
• Identify use cases and implement advanced analytics and visualizations to drive growth or solve business problems within the mortgage organization.
• Collaboration and communication with business units and shared services supporting the mortgage organization
• Demonstrate leadership skills by providing guidance to junior resources within the MIS and Data Science teams.
• Compliance with bank policies and procedures around data security etc.
• Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
• Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Job Requirements:

• Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) (Experience of 3+ years with Masters or 5+ years with Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field i.e. mathematics, statistics, computer sciences etc.)
• Minimum experience required: 3+ Years 
• 3+ years in data science with experience in AI/ML tools, programming languages e.g. Python, SQL etc. and data dashboard tools e.g. MS Power BI

Preferred Skills:

• Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent)
• Experience in the mortgage/financial services space
• Experience creating and/or implementing an advanced analytics or AI program at another organization
• People management skills, must be able to oversee data science analysts
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time

• 3+ years in data science with experience in AI/ML tools, programming languages e.g. Python, SQL etc. and data dashboard tools e.g. MS Power BI
