Job description
- Help ensure the safety of students with visual impairments.
- Assist with instruction of students under the direction of a certified teacher in a classroom setting, one-on-one, or in small groups.
- Collaborate and consult with the special education teacher in planning, scheduling, and coordination of daily and/or long range activities in accordance with the IEP.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Prepare adapted material in a timely fashion as needed by students with visual impairments including blindness and Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments.
- Prepare materials that require special formatting such as textbooks that are not readily available, consumable workbooks, testing materials, and individual worksheets.
- Prepare adapted materials using a variety of techniques, including tactile graphics, maps, and Braille.
- Participation in professional development opportunities to advance Braille skills.
