Position Overview: Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO)

As a pivotal member of our Leadership Team, the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) will be an operationally savvy strategic financial leader with a strong background in talent development. This role encompasses both hands-on individual contributions and oversight of key departments including Finance, People and Equity, Contracts, and Information Technology.

The CFOO plays a critical role in optimizing financial performance and organizational effectiveness. Collaborating closely with the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board, the CFOO will shape and execute financial strategies aligned with our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership:
- Provide strategic thought partnership to the CEO, focusing on financial strategy.
- Ensure best practices for internal controls, overseeing accounting and financial planning functions.
- Foster a culture of learning and staff development, prioritizing growth and collegiality.
- Partner with peers to cultivate an inclusive organizational culture valuing diversity and belonging.

Strategic Finance:
- Advise, manage, and implement fiduciary responsibilities, including long-term financial planning and annual budgeting.
- Oversee financial reporting, cash flow, forecasts, and grant compliance.
- Lead annual budgeting and planning processes in collaboration with the CEO.
- Act as primary liaison for legal matters related to risk management and compliance.

People & Operations:
- Develop and implement business policies, practices, and procedures to enhance operations.
- Support equitable practices in talent recruitment, hiring, development, and performance management.
- Enhance employee value proposition and benefits to meet organizational needs.
- Champion equity in internal community building efforts and practices.

Requirements:
- 10+ years of finance experience, with a focus on operations optimization.
- 6+ years of team management experience, including virtual work environments.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or equivalent experience.
- Previous HR and/or IT management experience.
- Familiarity with K-12 educational services and government contracts.
- Expertise in grant management and compliance.
