Job Summary

The Copy Editor will mentor and stories for a team of three to five writers. In addition to editing responsibilities, this role involves helping with training and planning. As a Copy Editor, you will have the opportunity to showcase your creativity by writing headlines and captions for the monthly Ke Alaka'i magazine. The Copy Editor meticulously reads, corrects, and enhances copy intended for University publications, media productions, or instructional activities

Primary Responsibility

• Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability.
• Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
• Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
• Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal.
• Review and approve proofs submitted by composing room prior to publication production.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
