Job Summary
The primary focus of this position is supporting in-house cable construction and field operations teams, including in the negotiation and preparation of contracts and other legal documents, and collaborating with other in-house business units to support the deployment of advanced broadband services. Works with in-house clients and senior legal team to develop and establish legislation, regulations and company policies. Advises senior in-house attorneys and internal business units on legal matters and monitors company compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather relevant related information and draft, analyze, negotiate, and prepare legal documents, as assigned or as necessary with direction from senior attorneys
- Provide guidance and assistance to internal clients
- Assist senior attorneys in supporting various business units by assessing legal risks and providing legal solutions to business issues
- Research and draft summaries of legal issues
- Meet with business clients and third parties
- Advise management on legal matters and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Advise business units on matters related to applicable laws, Charter policies, statutes, regulations, and/or proposed legislation relevant to the area of business
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations related to the Company’s business practices and for corporate entities in general
- Manage claims and lawsuits involving the Company
- Negotiate and draft business agreements
- Coordinate and manage outside counsel as required
- Work with senior attorneys to proactively identify and address key legal issues for management and in-house clients
- Provide ongoing monitoring of applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Proactively grow and maintain network for potential partnership opportunities
- May lead and direct the work of paralegals and administrative personnel
- Perform other duties as requested
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Knowledge and understanding of corporate law
- Ability to provide information and ideas in a compelling manner both written and verbally
- Demonstrated analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated team and relationship-building skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Required Education
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Admission to State Bar in which Attorney practices
