Job description
Reporting to the SVP, Business Development and Strategy, the Director, Business Development and M&A will carry out the inorganic strategy with a focus on growth and transformational M&A to include industry structure and value chain analysis, target identification, target relationship cultivation and target strategic fit assessment. Armed with broad domain knowledge, this person will help the organization ‘see around corners’ to anticipate market shifts and continue to position the company at the center of the industry.
The Director, Business Development and M&A requires a confident, knowledgeable strategist capable of immediately establishing trust and credibility throughout the company, with the board, and with external stakeholders. S/he will leverage a deep and broad understanding of existing and possible market opportunities, coupled with greater gained knowledge of Repligen, in order to serve as an internal M&A consultant to the company. This person will create insight-driven strategies and will effectively deliver and execute against those strategies.
- Work cross-functionally to support and drive business strategy development, search and evaluation of new and complementary technologies, and support due diligence and integration of partnerships and/or M&A
- Support development of multi-year cross-functional business strategy including ongoing evaluation of growth opportunities, financial assessments, and forecasts (working with FP&A and product leaders)
- Develop and lead execution of RGEN’s general framework/approach to evaluate partnerships, licensing, and M&A opportunities in collaboration with product leaders. Analysis to include partners/target capabilities, market positioning, strategic alignment with RGEN portfolio, and corporate prioritization of opportunities
- Manage cross functional teams through multiple simultaneous due diligence on strict timelines. Lead the communication and incorporation of findings in strategic assessments, deal financials and transaction terms.
- Drive and own detailed financial analysis supporting the transaction; Working internally with the Finance function, Financial Accounting and Legal advisors
- Lead and support negotiation of deal terms, structuring of transaction and drafting of definitive agreements
- Participate and take leadership positions in the integration of technologies and operations into Repligen
- 8+ years of industry experience with direct experience in a Business Development or relevant functions
- End to end experience in inorganic growth approaches including in/out-licensing, partnerships, and M&A; in addition to an ability to support, plan, and execute inorganic transactions including in/out-licensing, collaborations, combination studies, and M&A evaluation.
- Strong project management and organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, in particular at presenting findings, summaries and recommendations to senior management in a concise and relevant manner
- Knowledge in life sciences and bioproduction including the competitive environment
