SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing support activities for the Analytical, Microbiology, and Physical Testing Labs under the supervision of tenured laboratory staff. This position will learn basic laboratory techniques and methods and gain current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) experience within a dietary supplement quality control laboratory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following
- Accurately weigh samples and prepare composites ensuring sample homogeneity
- Prepare solutions, reagents, and media following established recipes
- Verify lab equipment and environment is operating within acceptable parameters
- Process glassware, sterile supplies and waste
- Stock materials and supplies for testing
- Clean and organize lab following schedule
- Maintain neat, accurate, and complete records such that they are defendable through an audit.
- Perform sample preparation procedures using several techniques such as: extraction, sonication, solvent evaporation, dilution, and filtration.
- Perform testing of raw materials, in-process samples and finished products. This testing will consist of basic organoleptic, wet chemistry and analytical chemistry techniques such as weight variation, pH, titration, etc.
- Perform Quality Control testing according to written SOP's. Testing is performed with precision, accuracy and completed on time.
- Report final test results in the computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Operate several types of computerized data handling systems.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Consult with other laboratory staff when issues with test methods arise.
- Perform other laboratory-related duties, tests, or projects as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Successful candidate will be currently enrolled in a University or Technical College Chemistry, Food Science, Biology or related program. Laboratory coursework and/or laboratory safety a plus.
