Job description
Job Overview: The Technical Solutions Manager is both a customer and supplier facing position connecting with all internal and external stakeholders intended to deliver technical solutions and technical support in line with corporate objectives. The Technical Solutions Manager is a solutions centric position with an emphasis on product development, project management, and supplier development.
Principal Responsibilities:
Principal responsibilities center around our “solutions centric mission” with a focus on delivering graphics, functional and application solutions to our target customers.
- Champion our solutions-centric approach by serving as the primary liaison for material solutions with both vendors and customers.
- Spearhead the identification of materials and processes for research and development efforts, ensuring comprehensive testing and documentation.
- In collaboration with the Technical Project Manager, drive the coordination of projects with external suppliers, customers, and internal sales teams, ensuring seamless delivery of graphics, functional, and application solutions to our target customers.
- Oversee the management of sample materials and testing activities, fostering efficient communication between sales, customers, and vendors.
- Take charge of customer application details and test requirements/preferences, aligning them with our commitment to delivering tailored solutions.
- Spearhead high-volume reseal technology opportunities as a project manager, overseeing supplier selection, material customization for specific customer applications, and coordinating comprehensive testing with suppliers and customers.
- Lead and manage raw material technical projects, establishing project quality and performance standards, while effectively assessing and managing risks across multiple projects.
- Coordinate and communicate with strategic vendors to align solutions and optimize the timing of necessary resources.
- Generate conclusive summary reports and provide recommendations for vendor tests and material qualifications, reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
- Keep material standards and internal databases up to date with project outcomes to ensure accurate records and efficient reference.
- Review internal Design of Experiments (DOEs) and document Vendor DOEs, outlining initial material selection, test parameters, and metrics defining successful outcomes.
- Conduct on-site visits to suppliers, verifying capabilities and suitability of potential solutions to enhance our offerings.
- Collaborate with contract packagers and customers through on-site visits to support the sales team and troubleshoot challenges.
- Play a crucial role in quality control by assisting in the evaluation of possible material application deficiencies, determining effective solutions, and preventing reoccurrences.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our solutions-driven initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred in project management and flexographic and/or digital printing.
- Ability to travel to company plants in Syracuse and Cohoes, NY as well as to supplier, customer and other vendors as needed.
- Well-versed in the manufacture and application of pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, and RFID labels.
- Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and computer proficiency.
- Ability to train and instruct coworkers and customers.
- Valid driver’s license: ability to travel/fly without issue.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening, including drug testing.
Rate of Pay: Dependent on experience.
