What we are looking for

SCS is looking for an Environmental Scientist for our Midwest Environmental Services team. You will be expected to provide reports to the Project Manager or Project Director for review and acceptance before submitting deliverables. You will serve as a delegated Project Lead on one or more projects. Your work will focus on environmental compliance. Wetland delineation activities, groundwater monitoring oversight, soil logging, and reporting for air, stormwater, and so on. As the Senior Project Professional, you will also could be responsible for identifying new business opportunities from current and new clients. You will maintain client relationships and ensure that projects are completed and delivered to meet Clients' business objectives. The position will be based in the Kansas City office.

How you can make an impact

• Coordinate and manage fieldwork associated with their projects.
• Lead, mentor, and manage junior-level staff.
• Delegate portions of project deliverables to staff for completion.
• Serve as the primary lead and point of contact for smaller-scope projects.
• Prepare proposals and associated cost estimates.
• Record data during fieldwork, which could include, but is not limited to: soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater or surface water data, photographs, or summaries of visual observations through photograph and written field logs per standard operating procedures as needed.
• Evaluate and interpret data recorded during fieldwork for reporting purposes and to determine future project needs.
• Write and prepare technical reports.
• Act as client liaison when needed by communicating with clients for field work coordination, project updates, reporting, design document status, permitting status, and meetings.
• Write and prepare reports such as proposals, Phase I, II, and III, Soil Management Plan, Dust Control Plan, environmental site assessment, emissions, groundwater, and compliance reporting.
• Lead applicable permit processing/regulatory agency coordination efforts.
• Review technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements.
• Actively attends Trade Shows, presents on technical topics, and is involved in professional associations and committees.
• Lead or have an active role in client prospecting and developing and executing client plans, sales plans, and key opportunity plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Science required.
• 4+ years of relevant environmental experience.
• 40 Hour HAZWOPER preferred.
• A Valid Driver's License with a driving record in good standing is required.

Pay range for this position is $60,000 to $85,000 annually depending on experience. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
