Description of Work:

The Career Coach will serve undergraduate students in the College of Education and Human Sciences to increase their understanding of and preparation for quality post-graduation opportunities. Primarily, the Career Coach will facilitate students' self-exploration of interests, abilities and values as well as their understanding of career options related to their academic programs. Additionally, the Career Coach will emphasize the importance of experiential learning opportunities that will contribute to students' readiness to successfully pursue those career options. Collaboration with advisors and faculty across the College as well as with UNL Career Services will help inform and guide this work.

Through direct interaction with with students in 1-1 advising sessions, classroom and student organization presentations the Career Coach will help students develop the ability to articulate their skills and qualifications in their resumes, cover letters and interviews as well as through networking activities. The Career Coach will also build and maintain relationships with employers and alumni.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of experience in a university or education setting. May consider Master's degree in lieu of the two (2) years of experience. Must have strong oral and written communications skills. Must demonstrate experience working with student populations. Must demonstrate competency with common office software programs and ability to use a variety of technology platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred. 1:1 student interactions with career or academic advising helpful. Ability to develop and deliver programs and presentations preferred. Experience with providing academic and/or social support for first generation, low-income and/or minority college students helpful.

Posted Salary: $43,000/yr. minimum
