Job Description:

PT Professional Tutor, Early College, Lynn

Lynn English, Lynn Classical, and Lynn Vocational Technical High Schools

Up to 20 hours per week depending upon tutor availability;

Non-benefited, MCCC unit position reporting to the Director of Learning Common Services

2 positions available

Lynn Public Schools/NSCC-Early College Program

Funded through a joint initiative by DESE/DHE. This program focuses on 1st Generation, low income, Latinx, BIPOC, and ELL students and their success with Early College programs and persistence beyond high school to post secondary opportunities.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Tutors for the Early College Program work with Tutoring Center Staff, Early College Coordinators, and Faculty to assist students with academic support and intervention. Tutors assist students in developing a systematic approach to studying that will serve them throughout their college careers.

Current needs include but are not limited to assistance with the PHI 116 Ethics course. The successful candidate should be available to travel to Lynn Classical High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Lynn English High School on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Positions are anticipated to continue through June 30, 2024. There may be opportunity for renewal.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide academic assistance in designated subject areas.
  2. Offer individual and small group sessions on content related to the college class.
  3. Assist students in developing a systematic approach to studying that will serve them throughout their college career.
  4. Maintain ongoing communication with and between students and Tutoring Center Staff, Early College Coordinators, and Faculty regarding student progress and need for services.
  5. Keep detailed and accurate documentation including students served, time spent, specific subject taught, student progress, and materials/tools used. Utilize EAB Navigate platform for documentation.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the position of a professional tutor.

SALARY: $32.00 per hour. Non-benefited, MCCC unit position
