Job description
US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems seeks a tax manager to support its US tax department. They will manage the day-to-day tax compliance reporting functions for the new sector. They will also be responsible for other compliance and consulting projects. Tax compliance includes managing the preparation, review and filing of the company’s sales & use tax returns, managing the property, license, and other indirect tax filings, supporting the tax preparation process, assistance with reviewing federal, state and local income tax returns, researching and responding to notices, and other ad-hoc compliance and consulting projects.
This position will be located in the Broomfield/Westminster, Colorado area.
The Finance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers the expertise and business acumen to increase value across the enterprise by providing actionable information with recommendations and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.
What You'll Do: - Manage sales & use tax filings (30%): Prepare/review/file monthly, quarterly, annual sales & use tax filings.
- Manage/collect sales & use tax exemption certificates.
- Support/lead sales & use tax examinations.
- Evaluate sales & use tax software/reporting tools. Manage Tax Compliance Process (30%):
- Prepare/review book/tax difference calculations in conjunction with the Space and Mission Systems Sector.
- Review separate company federal, state, and local income tax returns and provide comments.
- Assist with the preparation and review of federal and state and local estimated tax payments and extension requests.
- Assist the BAE Systems, Inc. with other tax compliance needs.
- Manage the property, license, and other indirect tax filings (20%):
- Prepare, review and file necessary returns.
- Respond to notices and support/lead examinations
- Other Activities (20%):
- Assist with the forecasting process and government compliance support.
- Assist with the annual research tax credit project.
- Serve as a resource to the business on various tax and non-tax matters including payroll, 1099 reporting, 1042 reporting, FBAR reporting and other areas as necessary.
- Assist with the audit process through preparation of IDR responses, communication with auditors, and defense of tax positions.
- Research and respond to notices from federal, international, state, and local taxing authorities.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site
three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - BS/BA in related field plus 10 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- CPA licensure.
- Experience managing long-term projects autonomously.
- Proficient tax research skills are a must (CCH, BNA, Westlaw).
- Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Background in Colorado Sales and Use Tax Regulations, Colorado Sales and Use Tax Regulations, Colorado Sales and Use Tax Regulations preferred.
- Tax reporting software a plus.
- Master of Science in Taxation is a plus.
- Five plus years of diverse tax experience required with an emphasis on sales & use and corporate income tax compliance preferred.
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $115000 - $158500
