Spirit Maine's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your Role: Spirit Maine is seeking a reliable and motivated Facilities Maintenance Mechanic I . As the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic , you will perform preventative and corrective maintenance including testing, inspections, service, repair, adjustments, and overhaul of equipment & tools on a daily/weekly/monthly schedule.
Essential job functions:
- Perform routine and scheduled building repair and mechanical systems maintenance according operational specifications and tolerances.
- Participate in daily maintenance crossover meetings to prioritize and assign work;
- Diagnose and address daily maintenance issues as scheduled;
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and tools on set schedules,
- Respond to building emergencies; work with production operators;
- Assist with Electrical maintenance and repair work;
- Emphasis on working safely and ensuring equipment and buildings are safe. Maintain good housekeeping;
- Must be capable of following all safety practices for handling materials and operating processes;
- Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide Lean improvement initiatives;
- Required to be on-call after hours on a rotating schedule to cover nights and weekends
What we need from you
- Min. GED or High School Diploma High level of demonstrated building repair and mechanical experience and aptitude required
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine sequences of assembly
- Experience using hand and power tools, fixtures and/or templates
- Must be able to wear required PPE, such as protective clothing (provided uniforms), approved safety footwear & safety eyewear; pass a breathing test and wear a respirator per OSHA standards when required
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, as well as work on ladders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Motivated, responsible, reliable, and a self-starter
- Works well individually or as member of a team
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- General technical of Facilities equipment understanding is required
