This position will be part of the Advertiser Growth organization within Sponsored Products (SP). Our team focuses on launching innovative controls that help advertisers create and manage performant SP campaigns. We develop recommendations to help advertisers use these controls effectively and develop state-of-art ML based optimization services to represent our advertisers in the SP marketplace. We strive to improve the ability for advertisers to help shoppers discover relevant products on customer search, browse and detail pages.
The Sr. Manager, SP Bidding is a single-thread leader responsible for representing advertiser bids in the SP marketplace. The leader will own development of new bidding controls, bid suggestion service, and online bid optimization algorithms that enable SP advertisers to increase reach and drive sales of their promoted products. The leader will lead a cross-functional team of 25+ Amazonians leading the product vision and execution of these services and work across the retail and advertising orgs.
Key job responsibilities
This role leads two primary services for SP:
Bid Suggestion Service: Bid Suggestions provide advertisers with performant bids to use while creating and managing SP campaigns. Advertiser bids are a key input to the SP marketplace and >95% of SP advertisers receive the bids suggested by this service. The leader will own defining the vision of evolving this product to further improve the explainability, accuracy, and usefulness of the suggested bids.
Dynamic Bidding: More than 85% of SP advertisers entrust Amazon to adjust their bid at the time of the impression through Dynamic Bidding controls. Advertiser bids are optimized through a tier-1 bidding service operating at p99 latency < 15 ms while scaling to more than 200k QPS that processes 1000s of ads in each request. The leader will own and improve this service and set the engineering and science vision of continually improving Dynamic Bidding for SP advertisers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1) PhD degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, mathematics or another relevant discipline
2) 10+ years of experience using AI/ML solutions to address large scale recommendation and optimization services
3) 5+ years of experience leading science teams
4) Experience in applying machine learning to real-world problems, with demonstrated impact on product or service outcomes
5) Excellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
