Job description
Reports To: Lead Rector
Pay Range: $1,200-$2,000/month (based on experience & skill set)
Hours: Varies depending on the church season but average 5-10/hrs per week
Chief Musician Responsibilities
The Chief Musician would be responsible for overseeing the following areas under the Rector’s oversight:
- Lead music during our principal service at 10 AM on Sunday at least 3x/month
- Lead rehearsal on Sunday at 8:30 AM at least 3x/month
- Lead some special services throughout the year as needed (Feast Days, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, etc.)
- Song selection using Planning Center Online (PCO)
- Coordinate with Parish Administrator for liturgy collating
- Schedule accompanying musicians using PCO
- Equip and build up the current music team along with helping to recruit new members to the team
Chief Musician Qualifications
- Possesses a deep and growing faith in Jesus Christ and holds a theology that is consistent with the mission of Harbor Anglican. Has read and understood the 39 Articles of Religion and/or is open to Reformational Anglicanism
- Possesses a warm, non-anxious, relational presence
- Minimum 1 year experience in leading worship vocally along with instrument (guitar or piano)
- Conversant with liturgical, sacramental worship, and church calendar
- Capable and willing to play a blended style of traditional hymnody and thoughtful modern worship songs that holds the gospel as central to worship
- Capable of working with a team and sees leading music for the sake of lifting the congregations voice
- Patient flexibility with music volunteers range of skills (novice to advanced)
- Able to read music and willing to create clean music sheets for worship bulletins
- Strong organizational & administrative skills (able to plan out weeks in advance)
- Proficiency in Microsoft, Google Suite, Planning Center, & MailChimp
