The Helena Public Schools has an immediate opening for a Database Developer and Reporting Officer (.50 FTE) At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a Database Developer and Reporting Officer you contribute to this mission by providing management and maintenance of district database systems and integration with state of Montana databases to meet District business requirements as required by the State. You will work as part of a team of 13 serving 1,000 employees across 18 campuses in Helena. Some what you may do:
Provide secondary technical support, design guidance, and maintenance of the district’s student information system (SIS).
Serve as a liaison with state of Montana Office of Public Instruction and database vendors to resolve operational problems and technical issues.
Perform file management tasks, including transferring, loading, archiving and converting data for purposes of managing, maintaining and securing student information.
Maintain database integrity required for trouble free operation.
Maintain daily synchronization of information between district SIS and state systems.
Consult with district administrators and departments to validate data and compile reports
Coordinate the import of new students into the state SIS and other state systems
Provide business analysis and system integration with various department heads for accurate reporting and data readiness of responsible programs
Prepare written materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and providing instructions to others.

Graduation from a four-year college
Five years of experience working with databases.
Or an equivalent combination of education training, and experience as determined by the District. (Specific knowledge of the particular software or systems supported may be required)
Minimum experience/qualifications include:
Demonstrated experience using SQL, Windows OS (Operating System) and Mac OS.
Demonstrated experience using Student Information System software (e.g., PowerSchool ) or other similar software.
Demonstrated experience in Microsoft PowerAutomate and Teams
Demonstrated experience utilizing Oracle and Crystal Reports.
Desired qualifications include:
School Software: Experience with SIF (School Interoperability Software) implementations.
Knowledge of and experience implementing School Interoperability Framework systems.
This is a 50 FTE position that will work four hours per day between 8am – 4:30pm; M-F Entry level salary range is $24.21 - $27.52 per hour DOQ/DOE as determined by the District and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
