Overview
Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Nebraska. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
CHI Health Good Samaritan has provided paramedic-level emergency ambulance service to the City of Kearney and Buffalo County Fire District #1 since 1988. Our paramedics also provide mutual aid response to area ambulance and rescue squads in order to bring the emergency department closer to the patient.
Responsibilities **Up to $5000 Sign-on Bonus for external candidates**
- Assesses, treats, and provides transportation to patients according to established State of Nebraska Emergency Medical Services rules and regulations, State of Nebraska Model Protocols, and hospital policies and procedures, independently, collaboratively or under the supervision of physicians, physician assistants, or registered nurses and according to the scopes of practice allowed by the State of Nebraska and Good Samaritan Hospital.
- Provides, assists with, or participates in education for team members and community.
- Performs and ensures safe, knowledgeable age-specific patient care in a holistic manner.
- Performs value-added activities that result in positive financial performance and customer satisfaction.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Performs duties within the hospital following the Emergency Medical Services Practice Act
Qualifications - Graduate of a Nebraska approved EMS training program
- Must hold Nebraska license as a Paramedic
- Must have and maintain National Registry Certification
- Current BLS & ACLS
- PALS & NRP required for Paramedic within 6 months of employment.
- Must have a current driver’s license with an excellent driving history and be able to operate an ambulance in emergency situations.
- PHTLS and AMLS are encouraged certifications
- PREFERRED: One year of experience as an EMS provider on a licensed ambulance service.
