Job description
Kelly is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Carpenter Helper / Material Handler at our Sulphur fab shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in our lay-down yards, assisting with material handling tasks, and providing support to our carpenters as needed. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the construction industry with the potential for long-term employment.
Responsibilities:
Material Handling: Transport and organize materials, tools, and equipment in our lay-down yards. Sort, separate, and move wire baskets, wooden crates, and tools on pallets as required.
Preparing Work Areas: Assist in preparing job sites by setting up scaffolding, ladders, and other necessary equipment. Ensure cleanliness and organization in workspaces for safety and efficiency.
Cutting and Shaping Materials: Under the guidance of carpenters, help cut and shape wood and other materials using hand and power tools such as saws, drills, and sanders.
Assembly Assistance: Assist in the assembly and installation of prefabricated components and structures. Follow specifications to measure, cut, and fit materials accordingly.
Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Willingness to occasionally drive to Vinton yard using own vehicle (valid DL and clean MVR for last 5 years required).
Experience operating machinery such as forklifts or hand trucks preferred but not required.
Basic knowledge of carpentry tools and techniques is advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
