What’s Under the Hood

DriveTime Family of Brands includes in-house financing and servicing through Bridgecrest, which is one of the country’s leading financial servicing providers. Bridgecrest services roughly $17 billion in finance receivables for DriveTime and other third parties. We service auto loans across a wide credit spectrum with the intent of creating a strong path to vehicle ownership for our customers.

That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?

Principal Engineer, AI is a dynamic and multifaceted position integral to enhancing the interaction between customers and our business through the development, maintenance, and deployment of cutting-edge generative AI algorithms. This role demands a strong aptitude for architecting solutions in collaboration with our DevOps engineering team, ensuring seamless integration across various systems, workflows, and environments. A significant part of the role involves collaborating closely with business partners, product teams, and development teams, providing expertise and guidance throughout the design, development, integration, and maintenance phases of projects. Furthermore, the Principal Engineer will be at the forefront of leveraging cloud technology to develop and deploy advanced generative AI, machine learning, and deep learning solutions, positioning our business at the leading edge of technological innovation and customer interaction. This role is pivotal in driving forward the technological capabilities of our enterprise, making it a crucial addition to our team.

+ Deep Understanding of AI and Machine Learning Concepts: Proficiency in neural networks, generative models, natural language processing, and machine learning algorithms.

+ Strong Programming Skills: Expertise in programming languages like Python, R, and experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX .

+ Data Engineering Knowledge: Ability to manage and process large datasets, understanding of data pipelines, and experience with databases and ETL processes.

+ System Design and Architecture: Skills in designing scalable and efficient system architectures for AI applications, including cloud infrastructure and distributed computing.

+ DevOps and MLOps Expertise: Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), containerization technologies (like Docker, Kubernetes), and understanding of MLOps practices.

+ Security and Ethics in AI: Knowledge of security principles in AI systems and commitment to ethical AI development, including understanding of bias and fairness in AI models.

+ Project Management Skills: Proficiency in leading projects, managing cross-functional teams, and excellent communication skills for collaboration with stakeholders.

+ Research and Development Acumen: Ability to stay updated with the latest AI research, apply cutting-edge techniques, and innovate in the field of generative AI.

+ Testing and Quality Assurance: Experience in setting up robust testing frameworks for AI models, ensuring reliability and accuracy of AI systems.

+ Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and optimize AI systems for performance and efficiency.

+ Communication: Strong ability to communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

+ Leadership: Leadership and mentorship skills to guide teams.

+ Innovation: A mindset geared towards innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

+ Education: a Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field is preferred.

+ Continuous Learning: Engagement in ongoing education and certifications in AI, ML, and related technologies.

+ Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in AI/ML fields with a proven track record of leading successful AI projects, R&D and staying abreast of the latest advancements in AI technology.
