Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Development Specialist to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of children and families enrolled in our Early Head Start program. As an essential member of our team, you will be responsible for planning and implementing comprehensive child development services, offering a range of family support and advocacy services, and fostering a nurturing environment for both children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

Child Development Services: Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children enrolled in the Early Head Start program. Conduct child development screening and assessments, and develop individualized school readiness plans for each child.

Family Support and Advocacy: Provide a range of family support services, including conducting weekly home visits, assisting with socialization groups, and facilitating parent education activities. Work collaboratively with families to develop and achieve Family Partnership Goals.

Community Resource Referral: Assist families in accessing community resources and services as needed. Maintain working relationships with community agencies and provide support to help families access medical, dental, and behavioral health services.

Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided to children and families. Ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and organizational requirements.

Essential Functions:

Home Visiting: Develop and implement a schedule of home visits and activities in collaboration with families. Foster positive relationships with children and families through weekly home visits.

Developmental Screening and Assessment: Conduct screenings and assessments of developmental progress. Coordinate with health professionals and refer to early intervention services as needed.

Individualized School Readiness Plans (ISRP): Develop ISRP for each child based on assessments and family input. Promote a positive learning environment that is culturally and linguistically relevant to each child and family.

Family Support and Parent Involvement: Identify family strengths, needs, and interests. Collaborate with families to develop Family Partnership Goals and provide appropriate referrals and support.

Community Resource and Referral: Maintain awareness of community resources and build collaborative partnerships with community agencies. Assist families in accessing needed services.

Qualifications:

Home Visitor CDA credential or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage and valid driver's license.
Proof of CPR, Pediatric First Aid certification, HIV/Aids, and blood-borne pathogen training.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and adapt to new technology.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in Spanish.
Current Parents as Teachers certification.
