Experienced Assistant General Manager
Apex Entertainment is seeking an exceptional Assistant General Manager to join our team and help us deliver extraordinary service to our guests, drive sales, and foster a great culture within our organization. As the Assistant General Manager, you'll help to take charge of the entire 53,000 square foot center, ensuring that every aspect of our operations runs smoothly to create an unforgettable experience.
Located in the heart of the Crossgates Mall in Albany, NY, our facility boasts an array of exciting attractions. Everything from heart-pounding virtual reality, immersive laser tag battles, and luxury bowling. With over 60 arcade games, 360-degree bumper cars, and multisport simulators we offer endless thrills. And when it's time to refuel, our incredible menu features chef inspired dishes, shareable snacks, cocktails, and local drafts. With our versatile meeting spaces equipped with modern technologies, Apex is also the perfect venue for corporate events and meetings. Responsibilities:
- Management:
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and terminating, fostering a high-performing team
- Lead by example, promoting our core values and maintaining an open-door policy for effective communication
- Address and resolve guest issues promptly, ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty
- Assist with establishing center goals and developing strategies to exceed them, consistently delivering exceptional service
- Efficiently schedule labor based on business demands, ensuring optimal staffing levels while meeting labor cost objectives
- Creating a Great Culture:
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, where teamwork and collaboration are encouraged
- Develop and implement initiatives to boost employee morale and engagement
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members, supporting their growth and career progression
- Recognize and reward outstanding performance, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation
- Encourage open and transparent communication across all levels of the organization

- Financial:
- Ensure timely deposits and generate accurate financial reports to monitor performance
- Work towards achieving or exceeding financial goals, effectively managing costs and driving sales improvement
- Operations:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of operations in each functional area, ensuring smooth coordination and collaboration
- Prioritize safety by ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and implementing necessary programs
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assist with supervising all managers within the center, guiding their performance and development
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws
- Conduct interviews, hire and train employees, assign work, provide feedback, address complaints, and resolve problems
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 3 years of related experience in a restaurant or entertainment venue; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated history of sales improvement and cost containment
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret business information, regulations, and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to different situations
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays
