Job Summary
Systems Technology & Research, Inc. (STaR) is seeking a Test Engineer to support a PEO Aviation Project Office located at Redstone Arsenal, AL. The successful candidate will provide support in the form of Test planning, scheduling, and execution.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, conduct, and supervise test plans
- Work closely with other engineers, pilots, technicians, government contracting agencies, vendors, and industry manufacturers in developing, conducting, evaluating, and documenting component and flight testing of aviation systems
- Support Test & Evaluation (T&E) lead and PM test team to include planning and execution of Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), component and system level test programs, and test documentation.
- Provide written and verbal assessments to management regarding status, issues, and risk.
- Attend and provide feedback for Test & Evaluation Working-level Integrated Product Team (T&E WIPT) meetings, Combined Test Team (CTT) meetings, contract gate reviews, Technical Interface Meetings (TIMs), design reviews, and other test & technical meetings.
- Provide input to scopes of work (SOWs) to ensure appropriate test activities and CDRLs are incorporated.
- Advise and assist with developing suitable test requirements based on external shareholder expectations.
- Conduct, report and status test activities for systems and platforms.
- Coordinate with small teams of test technicians and engineers for test events
- Provide oversight for test activities
- Work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Test Ranges, RTC, and other PMs)
- Coordinate, write and staff Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP) for new configurations.
Education and General experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Prior team leadership experience or be motivated to develop such skills
- Knowledge of Test & Evaluation procedures & practices.
- Knowledge of US Army Aviation Unmanned, fixed, or rotary-wing platforms
- Knowledge of current DoD acquisition framework and procedures is preferred
- Working knowledge of Unmanned aircraft systems, weapons systems as well as systems engineering processes and procedures is preferred
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required
Skills, Competencies and Abilities:
- Developing, reviewing, and coordinating test plans, schedules, reports, and similar test documentation.
- Developing Lifecycle or Acquisition milestone documentation.
- Preparing and presenting briefings and technical papers to interface with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel >25%
