As the Journalism, Communications, & Digital Literacy Librarian, you will serve as the liaison to the School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) , delivering services that support all aspects of the school’s research and instructional programs, including Portland campus programs, research centers, and online programs. In this role, you will provide course-integrated library instruction, and design learning tools and experiences to support assignments and activities in information and digital literacy. You will also provide specialized research support to faculty, researchers, students, and staff on SOJC-related projects, as well as select, assess, and maintain digital and physical collections relevant to SOJC’s teaching and research areas. The Journalism, Communications, & Digital Literacy Librarian also provides digital literacy support, instruction, and services for the UO Libraries. In this position, you will work closely with UO Libraries units including Digital Scholarship Services and Data Services to develop and implement teaching and research initiatives related to consuming, creating, and communicating with digital information. You will collaborate with UO faculty and staff to develop and deliver media assignments and components in new and existing courses and provides instructional materials and sessions related to digital literacy concepts including media use and reuse and communicating through digital design. This position reports to the Director of Research & Instructional Services (RIS) and, as a member of the RIS department, you will be responsible for research consultations, instructional services, and providing front-line research support in-person and virtually. Collaboration is important to us, and you will have opportunities to work with library employees on developing new methods of delivering reference, research, and instruction services. This position is based at the Eugene campus in the Knight Library.
