Job description
Equix Energy Services is an energy and utilities contractor that provides high-quality pipeline and facility construction services. The Equix team is built on pride in the workmanship and abilities of our crews. Our Core group of in-house welders have extensive knowledge and background in pipeline and fabrication welding. We have a current opening for a Safety Coordinator. At Equix, we support our customers and stakeholders and constantly strive to exceed expectations with all of our services, which include: Pipeline Construction, Gas Distribution, Horizontal Directional Drilling, Facility Construction and Fabrication, and Trenching services.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Safety Manager and Site Team to ensure implementation of the HSE Management System at the site and that all safety requirements are consistently and correctly implemented.
- Assist the implementation of all HSE policies and procedures.
- Assist in managing the HSE management system within assigned areas of responsibility to achieve established HSE performance targets.
- Maintain, monitor, and provide on-time reporting of HSE performance metrics, statistics, records and injury reporting.
- Work with the site team to resolve problems and implement corrective actions.
- Perform field and contractor audits on a regular basis to ensure compliance.
- Advise the Safety Manager on EHS compliance issues and advise/assist in developing and implementing corrective actions.
- Train site personnel in the areas of environmental compliance, occupational health and safety to ensure compliance with required safety policies and practices.
- Review HSE deliverables, plans and programs proposed by contractors working at company's construction sites and monitor their performance to assure compliance
- Actively participate in HSE Program reviews and recommending the HSE Management System Program Objectives & Targets.
- Ensure the highest level of health and safety practices. This includes wearing and demonstrating the proper use of essential safety equipment, including a personal fall arrest system, confined space entry, as well as identifying potential hazards on the job.
- Adhere to and represent the company's values, vision and HSE Policy Statements while reinforcing Line Management's and individual employee's responsibility for HSE.
- Assist in the development, training and implementation of HSE Policies and Procedures.
- Travel to various job sites as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Two (2) years of EHS experience applicable to operations, maintenance and/or construction industry preferable.
- Associates Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, and/or Environmental Science, or a related field from and accredited school preferred.
- Substitution Clause: One (1) of the 2 years can be satisfied with Associates Degree; or 5 years' experience with a current OSHA Construction Outreach Training card.
- Proven experience holding people accountable to processes and standards.
- Demonstrated success developing and monitoring safety standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work well and efficiently with a wide variety of people.
- Demonstrated strengths in problem solving, planning, and coordination initiatives.
- Understanding of local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently will be essential.
- Must be able to sit, walk or stand for long duration of time.
- Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Must be able to transfer, carry, and lift up to forty (40) pounds.
- Must be able to crouch, kneel, or ½ kneel for up to five (5) minutes at a time.
- Must travel to the following locations: Ellebelle, GA, and Ocala, FL when needed
