Job description

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.

Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Security Systems Associate and join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful applicant will support the Safeguards and Security (S&S) Performance Assurance Program (PAP). Tasked with assisting in the development and oversight of implementation and administration of site physical security systems. Ensuring compliance with National Drivers, WIPP Site procedures, and Department of Energy (DOE) Directives. Successful applicant will participate in consultation with key stakeholders prior to implementation and coordinate with external departments to ensure site awareness. Candidate will assist in the development of training for required personnel in accordance with site and manufacturers specifications. Candidate will perform administrator duties under the direction of the Performance Assurance Manager of key security systems, physical access control systems (PACS) and WIPP camera systems. Position will require programming cameras for the WIPP Site and act as point of contact when troubleshooting issues with PACS. Candidate will routinely guide the Protective Force (PF) and S&S staff on new and incumbent systems. Digitally create and implement new badge designs and layouts as necessary. Routinely monitor site personnel within the PACS to ensure personnel are being added, denied access, or removed as applicable. Assist PAP Program Manager with acceptance testing of new security software. Will act as a team member of PAP led Management Self-Assessments. Assist in the performance of PAP surveillances to ensure compliance with DOE directives and S&S Procedures. Assist the PF Training Department with the development of additional trainings on security systems as applicable for the PF and Personnel Security (PERSEC) teams. Create and disseminate relevant Shift Orders as necessary. When operationally necessary candidate will perform PERSEC duties to include the inspection of federal approved identifications, and process required documents for Local Site Specific Only (LSSO), Visitor, Temporary, and Foreign National badges. Process individuals for site access by issuing LSSO Badges, which includes administrative paperwork, taking client photographs, utilizing site printing equipment and programs, and ensuring complete paperwork in accordance with PERSEC procedures. Assist in the facilitation of site tours ensuring adherence to Security policies. Candidate will lead the WIPP S&S Security Awareness program and embrace nuclear security safety principles. Candidate may be assigned additional administrative duties by S&S Management as required. Position will require an Active DOE "Q" clearance.

Non-Exempt Salary Grade (24-26)

Higher education attainment than listed acceptable per internal level identifiers of accompanying years of experience.

Preferred Requirements:

Starting salary $50,931 per year *
