Staff Accountant

Job Summary
The Staff Accountant, under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, is responsible for fixed assets and capital projects accounting, general ledger accounting, month-end close, indirect costs allocation, and annual financial audit rediness.
Essential Functions
- Maintain fixed assets schedules and reconcile to the general ledger
- Calculate and record monthly depreciation expenses
- Track work in progress expenses for capital projects
- Manage indirect cost allocations and assist with the annual indirect cost proposal
- Manage grants receivable and deferred revenue allocations for grant funded programs
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts
- Prepare adjusting journal entries
- Responsible for the month-end close process in accounting software
- Provide support and review for A/P, Payroll, and A/R accounting functions
- Prepare bank cash deposits
- Assist with the preparation of work papers and supporting schedules for the annual financial audit
- Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience may be substituted for Bachelor's degree
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience as a staff accountant, auditor, financial analyst or a similar role
Preferred
- Concentration in Accounting
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
License/Certification
- Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy , or obtain within 90 days of hire, or, with approval of the hiring manager, sign a *Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in lieu of having a driver's license to perform the required duties of the position (If Applicable )
