Position Summary:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for assisting the maintenance and production teams with electrical and instrumenation related failures and improvements. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the I&E equipment within two process units and will utilize usage-based, condition-based, and predictive maintenance-based techniques to improve plant reliability.

Responsibilities :

• Engineer electrical power distribution and determine electrical component sizing.
• Repair I&E equipment across two process units, collaborating with Operations, Site Technical, and Line Management.
• Provide technical support and maintenance for electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, substations, circuit breakers, motor starters, protection relays, & generators.
• Support and maintain various instrumentation types, such as pressure transmitters, control valves, flow transmitters, etc.
• Develop schedules for new electrical installations and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Coordinate with external engineering firms, electric utility, and electrical installation.
• Manage electrical and instrument PM programs, ensuring optimization of scope and performance frequency.
• Drive cost savings and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Execute planned maintenance and coordinate power supplier outages.
• Oversee electrical and instrument contractors when necessary.
• Specify and order supplies for repairs and improvement projects.
• Set reliability practices for Power Distribution and Transformers.
• Troubleshoot switchgear and relay controls electrical systems.
• Conduct short-circuits, protective device coordination, and arc-flash studies.
• Provide technical assistance within KAI. Assist in field activities during shutdowns, startups, and maintenance projects.
• Specify and order supplies for repairs and improvement projects.

Qualifications :

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering; 0 to 2 years of relevant industry/plant experience.
• Understanding of medium voltage, high voltage, motors, drives, schematics, and associated circuitry.
• Knowledge of electrical standards (e.g. NEC, IEEE, ANSI, IEC etc.)
• Familiar with GE Multilin protection relays
• Strong troubleshooting skills and PLC knowledge
• Demonstrated oral/written communication skills
• Strong problem analysis, judgment and decision-making skills.
• Computer skills including MS Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Good interpersonal skills with a broad range of personnel
• Knowledgeable in SAP and/or other computer systems.
• Self-starter capable of stepping in and leading as appropriate and carrying out tasks assigned without any supervision.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation including calibration, maintenance, and communication with the DCS
