Job description
The Store Manager is responsible for the operation and profitability of his/her store, including, but not limited to: Store Operations - Human Resources - Financial Management - Marketing/Sales
Maintain the store’s appropriate inventory levels to ensure that it meets customer needs and is aligned with budget.
Ensure the satisfaction of both professional and D-I-Y customers and building positive long-term relationships with them.
Make certain that all customer orders are accurately prepared and records maintained.
Ensure that orders are delivered to customers in a timely manner.
Follow up on complaints as needed.
Ensure that the physical appearance of the store is maintained and that all equipment is in excellent working condition.
Control inventory losses through proper controls and notations.
Control expenses and payroll.
Ensure that the store is properly opened and closed in accordance with company policy.
Ensure all transactions are handled properly through the store computer system.
Maintain and troubleshoot system as needed.
Direct the processing of daily batch paperwork.
Determine staffing needs, recruit store employees, establish and monitor work schedules as appropriate.
Develop and implement employee training as appropriate with selling techniques and product knowledge being the highest priority.
Ensure that employees deliver excellent customer service to all.
Encourage a viable team-oriented working environment through good communication.
Clearly communicate staff assignments and expectations.
Conduct performance reviews and when necessary administer discipline in accordance with company policy.
Assist in providing necessary input for development of annual store budget.
Monitor accounts receivable and expense payable functions, including preparation of daily cash reports.
Ensure that store pricing is up to date.
Understand and utilize various business reports to identify sales, gross margin, and expense control opportunities.
Responsible for the coordination of the sales efforts associated with the store.
Develop and implement creative marketing strategies designed to increase market share.
Make outside sales calls to support the market development plan.
Manage the merchandising of the store so that in-store marketing of products is effective.
Develop new accounts and increase sales of current accounts through a targeted sales initiative
Support outside sales rep(s) selling efforts.
All other duties as assigned.
Requires a two- or four-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
Effective financial planning and management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Minimum of 3-5 years retail experience, preferably industry related.
Must be able to match colors and tint paint.
Knowledge of product lines and services, including paint and paint sundries, strongly preferred.
Proven ability to meet established deadlines.
Detail and goal-oriented individual with demonstrated capabilities in leadership attributes.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a car or van.
Must be able to work all scheduled hours as needed.
