Job description
Franklin Street is currently seeking an Insurance Claims Coordinator to join our Insurance Team in Tampa, FL.
Position Overview:
The Insurance Claims Coordinator will provide support to insurance agents by coordinating all claims related activities to enable agents to reach a high level of production and provide exceptional customer service to clients.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for coordinating and supporting initiatives relative to the evaluation, processing, and handling of insurance claims.
- Perform efficient and timely data entry of claims information into the agency management system in accordance with Franklin Street Best Practices.
- Provide frequent communication to clients based upon established timeframes.
- Report claims to the carrier within 24 hours of notification and follow-up for claim acknowledgements from carrier and provide information to insured.
- Obtain loss runs from carriers for claim review.
- Update claim review profiles with all open claims and ensure financials are accurate.
- Set up conference calls and appointments.
- Create monthly claim reports to clients.
- Obtain status updates from carriers on open claims as directed by claims team.
- Take notes during conference calls.
- Serve as a technical resource for the Commercial Lines Department by providing a review of claim information.
- Communicate proactively and often with the Franklin Street sales and service teams on client’s claims.
- Initiate and effectively communicate business process improvement strategies, providing alternate solutions and guidance.
- Maintain good rapport with insurance company representatives.
- Initiate, respond to, and complete correspondence with client, carrier, adjuster, producer, colleagues and management in a timely and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate’s or 4-year college degree preferred.
- Insurance customer service or claims adjusting experience preferred.
- Microsoft Office 365, OneNote, SharePoint proficiency preferred.
- Intermediate to high level of proficiency required in: Microsoft Office including, but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, and related software.
- Ability to type at least 45-50 wpm.
- Experience in insurance claims processes.
- Ability to interpret and explain basic claims information and to respond accordingly.
- Ability to utilize effective consultation and negotiation techniques during challenging situations.
- Demonstrates ability to be approachable by all internal colleagues.
- Ability to maintain positive customer relationships.
- Professional business level communication skills including the ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language at a fluent and professional level (both in person and over the phone).
- Strong attention to detail in composing, typing, proofing materials and a passion for accuracy.
- Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization and style to prepare a wide variety of correspondence.
