The current base salary range for this position is $59,727 - $113,704. "Off-scale" salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position description The Human Rights Center (HRC) is seeking to hire an Open Source Investigations Training Manager to lead HRC's open source investigations training program for professionals and to support the training of undergraduate and graduate students.
HRC investigates war crimes and other serious violations of human rights, pursues justice and accountability, and prepares the next generation of human rights advocates. HRC applies innovative technologies and scientific methods to investigate human rights abuses and study their effects on vulnerable populations. Based on our findings, we recommend specific policy measures to protect those affected by abuses and hold perpetrators accountable. HRC trains advocates around the world and provides them with the skills and tools necessary to document human rights violations and turn this information into effective action.
HRC's Open Source Investigations Training Manager will work closely with the HRC's directors to set a vision for HRC's training program. With support from other members of the HRC team, HRC's Open Source Investigations Training Manager will be responsible for designing and coordinating each open source investigation training of professionals, including the agenda for the event, the training roster, and the contents of their own training sessions, as applicable. The Open Source Investigations Training Manager will also be responsible for identifying and coordinating with all hosting partners (where applicable), as well as the trainers for each event, including members of the HRC team and external experts. The Open Source Investigations Training Manager is encouraged to be at each of the trainings.
The Open Source Investigations Training Manager will also be responsible for managing the logistics and budget of each training session, including interfacing with the partner organizations, arranging the training location and set-up, and overseeing the technology (whether in person or virtual). While some trainings are virtual, many of them are in person in locations like Geneva and The Hague.
The Open Source Investigations Training Manager will also be a part of our teaching team, assisting with training undergraduate and graduate students in HRC's Investigations Lab, as well as students in our open source investigations courses (we currently offer undergraduate as well as multidisciplinary graduate programs in the School of Law and School of Journalism).
We are looking for someone creative and collaborative, with an in-depth knowledge of open source technologies and methods of investigating, and a desire to explore and learn more in this rapidly evolving field.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead HRC's open source investigations training program for professionals
Design each Open Source Investigations training
Manage the logistics and budget of each Open Source Investigations training
Assist with Open Source Investigations training of undergraduate and graduate students
Remain up-to-speed on the latest developments in open source technologies and investigations
Innovate with new methodologies and tools for supporting effective, efficient, and ethical investigations
Provide advanced investigative support to select investigations as needed and as capacity allows

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, or equivalent international degree at the time of application. Preferred qualifications
At least three years of working in a related field (such as journalism, law, or research).
A graduate level degree in a related field
An in-depth understanding of open source investigation methods and technologies
Experiencing training others how to conduct open source investigations
A desire to expand knowledge of the field as the field progresses rapidly
