Job description
The Director of Alumni and Donor Relations plays a key role in the Advancement team by promoting the mission of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center through regular contact with our benefactors, alumni, parents, and friends of the ministry around the country. The purpose of the Advancement program is to communicate the joyful mission of the Catholic Center in order to assist in the continued growth of a dynamic Catholic university ministry program which serves the University of Colorado, Boulder community.
Reporting to the Director of Operations and Advancement, the Director of Alumni and Donor Relations be in the center of a faith-filled and innovative group of Catholic leaders who are transforming the culture in the grace of Jesus Christ.
Primary duties:
- Manages portfolio of benefactors keeping them connected to the mission, and ensures they are thanked promptly for donations.
- Regularly meets with new benefactors, parents, and alumni to cultivate relationships with the Catholic Center.
- Helps build stronger connections with alumni and assists in planning alumni events.
- Assists Director of Advancement in expanding planned giving program.
- Prepares weekly, monthly, and annual reports on financial goals.
- Monitors monthly and annual pledges, following up with donors when necessary.
- Assists with student tithing and Senior Class Gift programs.
- Conducts prospect research in collaboration with Advancement team.
- Attends weekly staff meetings at the Catholic Center in Boulder.
- Is present at important ministry events throughout the academic year.
- Regular local travel required approximately 5-10 days per month. Occasional travel outside of Colorado.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, be highly motivated to share the fruit of our mission with benefactors and alumni, work well on a team and individually, and have a strong desire to help young people find true hope and love in Jesus Christ and his Church.
Specifically, a candidate must be able to:
- Maintain an active pool of benefactors to support the ministry of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center.
- Set and achieve goals, both independently and as a team.
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Work independently for large portions of time each day.
- Collaborate with Catholic Center staff on ministry growth and vision.
- Possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree and at least two years of fundraising or ministry experience.
- Have superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain strict confidence regarding all information and issues addressed under this position.
- Willingness for daily travel within the Denver metro area, some travel outside of the state required.
- Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043);
- Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
