This is a Corrections Officer position whose primary responsibility is staff recruiting efforts for the Department of Corrections. Will work with Hiring Managers to attract applicants to various positions in order to fill vacancies in a timely manner. Utilize multiple platforms to source and attract candidates, including social media. Maintains operational readiness to provide direct care supervision and direct care monitoring of clients.

Minimum Qualifications: Facility staff shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age with a minimum of three (3) years age difference between the staff member and the oldest client who can be admitted to the facility. Minimum of three (3) earned college credits in adolescent development, psychology, criminal justice or a related subject. Transcript verifying education credits is required. Must possess first aid, CPR and physical restraint certification or the ability to acquire within initial period of employment. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Personal vehicle for use when county vehicle is not available (employee reimbursement is provided by County). Pass legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check, and pre-employment screen for alcohol and drugs. Must also meet the required conditions contained in KSA 65-516 and KAR 28-4-356.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years’ experience working with youth or adults in correctional settings. Professional references are required to verify the related work experience. Associate of Arts (AA) degree with related course work in criminal justice, psychology, sociology or related field. Transcript verifying education credits is required. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
