Cardiovascular Program Assistant

Summary:

We are currently looking for a summer intern for 2024 to assist our Cardiovascular department by evaluating the electrophysiological effects of antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) treatment in an ex-vivo study of murine cardiomyocytes. The study is anticipated to affect the preclinical evaluation of a treatment for a rare, genetic cardiovascular disorder. In addition to learning about ASO technology and the drug development process, the intern will gain hands on experience with Multi Channel Systems multielectrode arrays (MEAs). A thorough understanding of ion physiology and electrical engineering is highly desirable. Proficiency with Python and Jupyter Notebooks preferred.

Requirements:

• MUST have a High School Diploma or GED
• MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Undergraduate/Graduate Degree Program and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship
• MUST be able to begin internship between 6/11/24 and 6/17/24
• MUST be able and willing to commit to a minimum 40-hour work week
• MUST be able and willing to remain in program through at least 8/16/24
• Relocation is not available for this position
• Electrophysiology experience with MEAs is highly desirable.

The pay scale for this position is $18 to $23 per hour.
