WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol

Report In Location - Ohio Weigh Station Located on I76 going Westbound at Mile Marker 5.5 in Medina County


Operates scales at stationary weigh stations. Weighs & inspects self-propelled construction equipment, commercial vehicles &/or loads relative to legal limitations & special hauling permit limitations. Checks vehicles for obvious safety violations & registrations.

Maintains records of special hauling permit loads & all violations. Operate radio to contact patrol post for assistance or detention of violators.

Answers inquiries from the general public regarding information & directions. May appear in court as a witness relative to overload citations.

Maintains & cleans scale facility. Maintains all equipment in a clean & safe condition. Performs other duties as directed by immediate supervisor.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT:
Renewal of driver license as required by law.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
May be exposed to vehicles leaking hazardous materials or on fire & animal wastes; may work outside exposed to weather; exposed to traffic noise & gasoline fumes; requires travel when operating portable scales; may be required to work evenings; may be required to crawl under vehicles; exposed to moving traffic while placing signs & cones to designate selected weigh site & during inspections; may be exposed to unsecure loads during inspections.
