Position Summary:
The Account Manager is accountable for 1) building and maintaining long-term, productive relationships with health plan clients, 2) developing and maintaining strategic account plans and 3) overall execution and performance against contractual commitments. The Account Manager meets and interacts with clients regularly, often in person, and is responsible for understanding, managing, and striving to exceed client expectations. This individual will serve as a primary point of contact and escalation for health plan clients and will serve as a brand ambassador for Equality Health.
Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with clients beginning at C-Suite level
- Meet and interact with health plan clients regularly (remotely and in person) and serve as the Equality Health primary point of contact and escalation for client leadership teams.
- Ensure optimal relationship mapping across Equality Health and external client teams.
- Understand client needs, priorities and challenges and work in collaboration with Equality Health teams to address.
- Ensure client meetings are well orchestrated with clear objectives, agendas, active participation and follow through on commitments made.
- Seek input and feedback from clients regularly and maintain accountability for overall client satisfaction.
Strategic Account Management
- Develop and maintain Strategic Account Plans for each assigned client – identifying opportunities to expand client partnerships and securing input and buy-in from Equality Health teams responsible for execution.
- Lead annual contract renewal processes for each assigned client – facilitating the negotiation and update of contract terms in collaboration with internal and external business and legal teams.
- Lead regular and periodic meetings with clients to advance partnership objectives, support ongoing operational collaboration and monitor Equality Health performance.
Execution & Performance
- Monitor and maintain overall accountability for Equality Health performance against contractual commitments.
- Work in close collaboration with internal operational teams to maximize Equality Health performance and address issues impeding progress.
- Serve as the single point of accountability and escalation both internally and externally for inquiries, issues, and updates for each assigned client.
- Oversee interim and annual reconciliations - ensuring adherence with contractually agreed-upon timelines.
- Ensure that Equality Health is creating value for clients and that clients understand the value created.
Required Knowledge, Education, & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a healthcare or related field of study
- Experience working with health plans and demonstrated knowledge of value-based care programs and principles.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated critical thinking, organizational problem solving and analytical skills, with a focus on program management.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; highly collaborative team approach to work.
- Effective active listening skills with an aptitude for building strong client relationships
- Client relationship management, leadership, and negotiation skills
- Ability to read and understand contracts
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail and responsiveness are critical because of the high visibility of this team's work within the company.
- Successful record of managing multiple projects with demonstrated ability to work independently in rapidly changing environments.
- Proven record of establishing and maintaining positive and effective work relationships with a diverse network of administrative leadership and staff.
- Ability to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, and the ability to interpret complex information from others.
- Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and company confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based technologies
