Overview
As a Process Improvement Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of site wide process improvements to enable lean manufacturing with the intent to establish linkage and flow while meeting customer demand and quality expectations at the lowest cost. You’ll work to identify opportunities to improve existing practices and procedures utilizing lean methodologies. You’ll partner with individuals across the organization and lead multi-functional teams to implement the process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of process improvement projects/activities using formal methodologies including, but not limited to; DMAIC, PDCA, DMADV, Kaizen events and RCCA (root cause corrective action).
- Analyze current processes, identify opportunities through collaboration with team members, then develop and implement process improvements.
- Capturing, qualifying and prioritizing the impact of improvement efforts
- Develop and sustain detailed standard operating procedures (SOP)/process documentation based upon proven best practices and improvement results.
- Perform time observations to support and validate production processes and improvements.
- Develop, design, and implementation of fixturing and production aids.
- Support equipment programming, troubleshooting, and enhance opportunities across all processes.
- Support production readiness by transferring and scaling processes from development engineering to production.
- Role model and teach team members topics of continuous improvement and elimination of waste. Coach employees to see abnormal conditions and problem solve systematically.
- Effectively engaging with individuals throughout the organization, including manufacturing personnel, engineers, executives, and professional staff to drive improvement activities
- This position may require access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Minimum of 5+ years experience implementing process improvements
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in electronics manufacturing
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in a lean manufacturing environment/practicing Lean Principles
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline
- US Citizenship required to maintain/obtain Security Clearance eligibility
Preferred:
- 8+ years of experience implementing process improvements
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Black or Green Belt
- Experience using lean tools such as; Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Problem Solving, 5S, Cell Design, Material Flow, Standard Work Combo Sheet, Mistake Proofing, Design of Experiment (DOE) and SMED
- Experience in the tight tolerance mechanical assemblies, knowledge in hybrid and microwave assembly, wire bonding, die mounting, soldering and seam sealing
- Experience with automated and/or manual die attach, soldering and wire bonding equipment
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Self-motivated with a strong willingness to adapt quickly in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Working knowledge of ISO-9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards
