Position: FX Artist
Location: Santa Monica, CA (Remote or On-Site)
*Pay Range: $54.23 - $81.30 Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
The perfect candidate needs to be a dependable, team player with a great attitude, and be flexible with our fast turnarounds. They will work closely with the FX Supervisor and VFX Producer in achieving the highest creative and technical standards of work.
MAIN DUTIES:
Design and create high-quality, photo-real effects (dust, fire, smoke, explosions, debris, clouds, etc.) that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project
Integrate the created elements into scenes with lighting, shadows, reflections, etc.
Utilize tools to render photo-realistic FX for commercials, advertising, episodics, and feature films
Be adept at balancing the creation of final renders for shots with building/maintaining systems for creating shots and effects
Work within the Method pipeline and publish tools, scripts, and setups as prescribed
Follow the creative direction of the production communicated by your supervisors, Head of CG.
WHAT YOU BRING:
High level of demonstrated experience and proficiency in Houdini
Experience working in complex pipelines
Previous experience in live-action visual effects for feature films, high-level television, and/or high-level commercials,
Strong understanding of FX simulation techniques and technologies
Experience in creating effects including fire, smoke, water, clouds, explosions, hair, cloth
Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
Strong understanding of physical dynamics and natural phenomena
Ability to take directions and adapt to changes
Excellence at improvising and problem-solving
Keen eye to details, timing, and scale
Tool building and scripting knowledge
Experience with one or more other professional software packages such as Maya and Nuke is a plus
Good communication skills and able to take exact direction from FX Leads and FX TDs
