Job description
The NPI Value Stream Manger is the key interface between Engineering and Operations during the development of new products in the Axcelis portfolio of ION Implanters. The NPI Value Stream Manager directs the development and implementation of new product activities into the production area(s) through product schedules thru engineering, meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. This role will oversee all material cost activity through the design phase to ensure a thorough first article process has been executed prior to design into manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Represents Operation in the Core team meets to ensure manufacturing inputs are added to the design in the early development stages.
- Works with engineering to establish cost models of new designs.
- Key interface with engineering during the Alpha and Beta builds within the manufacturing process.
- Develops schedules based on materials procurement to ensure new products are built on time to meet customer commits.
- Assist in the selection of suppliers during the design phase of a new product, works closely with both design engineers and suppliers to ensure all material fabricated can be built to the engineering specification. Resolving any drawing/procurement issues (tolerancing, materials or Lead-Time) which will affect the delivery date and cost.
- Approve all ECO's which affect the performance, cost, or structure of the Implanter.
- Participate and provide information for all Design Reviews during the development of new products or tool CIP programs.
- Work with the Quality group to ensure all InSight cases generated during the procurement and build process have timely corrective actions taken so that the next purchase or build does not have the same defect repeated.
- Support and provide input for cost out initiatives during and after the tools have been designed or built.
- Interface with manufacturing during the build to report back to engineering on issues or changes needed during the build process.
- Communicates regularly with Director of NPI Manufacturing on area initiatives, goal progress and challenges.
- Presents information to factory leadership on Cost, build process, gross margin improvement and quality assurance objectives.
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with 8-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good working knowledge of an ION Implanter in the Semi-Conductor field.
