ALUMNI EXTERNAL REL SPEC 3 (Research And Analytical Strategist) Department Description
The division of Development & Alumni Relations provides leadership in building enduring public trust, understanding, and support for UC Davis and its mission of teaching, research, and public service. UC Davis' Office of University Development provides leadership, coordination and support services to help the university meet its mission of research, teaching and service by building philanthropic support and executing approved fundraising programs that support the university's highest priorities and initiatives.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Foundation and Corporate Engagement (FCE), the Research and Analytical Strategist works broadly across the team to provide highly customized and strategic information in support of comprehensive corporate and foundation engagement efforts. With significant independence, the Research and Analytical Strategist is responsible for generating briefings, reports, presentations, and company and foundation profiles from complex information and through primary research. This position will also provide assistance on grant proposal submissions, including content development and editing where appropriate.

- Experience and skill in project management, including event planning and meeting deadlines. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with alumni, internal, and key constituencies.
- Thorough research, analytical and critical thinking skills, including sound judgment and decision-making skills and skill to correctly identify real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions.
- Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, style and punctuation.
- Organizational and time management skills to coordinate many details of multiple projects simultaneously, and to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly shifting priorities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent technical skills/experience in science, engineering or business.
- Experience working collaboratively in a team-based environment. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Skills to present complex materials and concepts to management, peers and campus-wide fundraisers.
- Awareness, knowledge, and skill in applying diversity, equity and inclusion to one's work. - Knowledge of industry and/or foundation engagement within a large, institutional setting.
