Pipelayer
LEAD Staffing is currently seeking a skilled Pipelayer to join our team. As a Pipelayer, you will play a crucial role in the assembly, connection, and construction of pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring proper ground preparation, trench excavation, and precise alignment of pipes, using various tools and techniques.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Develop and configure optimal pipe routes.
2. Align pipes within designated pipeline sections.
3. Utilize trenching tools to excavate trenches accurately.
4. Place pipes into prepared trenches.
5. Coordinate with tractor drivers to facilitate pipe movement for welding.
6. Insert spacers between pipes as needed.
7. Identify and remove defective or misaligned pipes.
8. Correct pipe alignments using sledgehammers when necessary.
9. Inspect connections to ensure proper spacing according to specifications.
10. Lay pipes for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
11. Grade trenches or culverts to meet project requirements.
12. Seal joints securely using glue or welding equipment.
13. Ensure tight fitting and alignment of pipes using grade rods or transit levels.
14. Cover pipes with appropriate materials, such as dirt.
15. Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines as required.
16. Perform regular maintenance on pipes and replace those requiring repairs.
17. Utilize magnetic or radio indicators to enhance precision.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Pipelayer or similar role.
- Proficiency in using trenching tools, welding equipment, and other relevant tools.
- Knowledge of pipe laying techniques and industry standards.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and follow specifications.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and equipment operators.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality work.
