Kelly is hiring for a Histotechnician position with one of our clients in Seattle, WA.
- Full Time- W2
- 3 months contract (Potential to be extended or converted)
- 3rd Shift. Mon – Fri 1am – 9:30pm
- $35+/hour - negotiable depending on experience
Job Description:
The Histotechnician will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in our state of the art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, you will provide high quality diagnostic material within established turn-around-times.
- Embeds, cuts, stains and performs other tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.
- Performs accurate gross description on tissue samples.
- Perform quality control procedures established for each method and maintains accurate records.
- Operates all instruments/ equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognizes and identifies instrument/ equipment problems.
- Meets acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.
- Recognizes testing errors/discrepancies or problems and notifies appropriate personnel; assists in problem resolution.
- Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol.
- Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.
- Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System.
- Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Associates degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science
- Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours) State Licensure, where applicable (CA, FL, NY require licensing)
- Meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.
- Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting and routine special staining techniques.
- 0-2 years of experience preferred
