GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assists finance leadership with the daily operations of the Medical Education Departments within HF Health. Is responsible for the facilitation of month end financial statements, business plans and forecasting / budgeting for the departments, in addition to a broad-based knowledge of Medicare Cost Reporting, Provider Contracting as well as Faculty and Trainee effort reporting. Reports to the Vice President Finance & CFO Henry Ford Medical Group with a dotted line to the Vice President of Research & Medical Education and System Hospital Leadership.
Responsible for preparing, validating, and analyzing detailed financial information; facilitating monthly close, forecasting / budgeting and development of financial business plans, and ad-hoc analysis, within the Medical Education Departments. Performing all management functions for employee(s) directly reporting up to this position. managing cap, preparing the CMS cost report, working in association with the DIO to identify opportunities both internal and external for cap optimization across HFH.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and analytical support to the department.
Facilitate monthly close process, including identifying and investigating significant or unusual variances.
Identify improvements to current processes.
Facilitate forecast process for all departments and supporting initiatives within each operating unit.
Provide direction / leadership and back up to financial positions reporting directly to operational departments.
Maintain and prepare data for Medicare cost reports related to GME and IME FTEs, caps, affiliation agreements, etc.
Provide support during cost report audits for all GME and IME issues.
Educate team on CMS GME and IME regulations, proposed changeschanges, and reimbursement impacts.
Recommend changes to resident tracking system and resident rotations that will maximize CMS reimbursement.
Manage centralized allocations and make recommendations where needed.
Involvement with the System DIO to inform and strategize system finances.
Effectively multitask and manage multiple projects/assignments occurring at the same time.
Perform all management functions for an employee including formal (mid-year and year-end) evaluations and informal feedback / answering questions.
Support other analysts and directors of departments as required.
Perform other responsibilities or assignments as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred.
7 years in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
Proficient knowledge of CMS medical education regulations.
Progressively responsible experience is preferred.
Previous supervisory and/or consulting experience is preferred.
Minimum 3 years of healthcare experience preferred.
Proficient with databases and large sets of data
