Job description

The Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at the University of Kansas invites applications for a Program Coordinator to coordinate Trans Studies at the Commons, a Mellon funded initiative to build a hub of transgender scholarship and organizing. We seek a conscientious and community minded individual with strong administrative skills and a passion for social justice. The position is 50% time-20 hours per week-from March 19-Sept. 30 with full benefits and potential to increase hours to 75% time - 30 hours per week in October 2024. The grant funded position will terminate with the grant in May of 2027.

Trans Studies at the Commons is a local and nationwide initiative for scholar-activists building the field of Transgender Studies. With the support of the Mellon Foundation, we will build a cohort of interdisciplinary fellows, host annual retreats, present public programs, and collect oral histories. The Project Coordinator is a significant role tasked with executing day to day operations and the goals and vision of the Trans Studies Initiative, the cluster of faculty who serve as Primary Investigators on the grant.
The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins.
