Job description
Are you an experienced Automation Specialist looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment? Join our team in Stratford! We are seeking a highly skilled individual to fill the position of Automation Specialist Engineer at our Stratford facility for a full-time opportunity reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Programming PLCs (Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Pilz, etc.) and Robots (Yaskawa, Fanuc, Kawasaki, etc.).
- Designing and developing control systems using PLC, HMI, and robotic programs for new equipment commissioning, modifications, and Engineering Change Instructions.
- Simulating, testing, and debugging machine control systems to address safety, quality, and production issues.
- Reviewing and coordinating modifications to safety control systems to comply with PSHSR processes.
- Troubleshooting, modifying, and updating control systems, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Hands-on work will be required.
- Developing specifications for equipment modifications, engineering changes, and commissioning, including obtaining supplier quotes and contracts.
- Coordinating equipment commissioning trials, problem follow-up documents.
- Supporting and coordinating equipment modification/installation schedules.
- Coordinating spare parts, engineering documentation, and equipment audits for new/modified equipment.
- Supporting equipment modifications and efficiency improvements using internal and contractor resources.
- Optimizing process parameters, including cycle time reduction, line balancing, and error proofing.
- Providing guidance and direction to maintenance team members during projects or major repairs.
- Producing drawings and documents for various projects using AutoCAD.
- Auditing and modifying equipment parameters to match documented values.
- Developing and supporting service parts processes, including support during production.
- Preparing cost reduction proposals for spare parts and production consumables.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic or Robotics & Automation.
- Five (5+) years of previous manufacturing engineering experience in an automotive robotic welding/stamping environment.
- Experience in equipment electrical design, including safety and pneumatic design.
- Understanding of PSR reviews and CSA code preferred.
- Comprehensive experience programming with Mitsubishi PLCs, teaching of Yaskawa, Fanuc, and Kawasaki Robots.
- Experience with heavy stamping presses and peripheral equipment preferred.
- Experience with Laser Cutting (programming experience preferred).
- Excellent project management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
