Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Normal work schedule will be 9 hours between 7:00am and 5:30pm, to include a one-hour lunch

No Weekends or Holidays

Job Specific Details and Tasks:

Core Duties :

+ Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate to the TO.

+ Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with Radiology xDepartment policies and procedures.

+ Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to MTF protocol.

+ Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.

+ Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists.

+ Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with MTF policy.

+ As directed, perform system calibrations and quality control tasks according to the manufacturer and MTF policy. Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify designated Government personnel of outlying values.

+ Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying designated Government personnel. Report problems to the Biomedical Repair Section and record the problem condition in the trouble call log book.

+ Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the patient’s condition as a result of adverse reaction to contrast media and inform the radiologist of any condition requiring his/her attention. Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.

Additional Job-Specific Duties :

+ Operate CT scanner and auto injector.

+ Receive and interpret requests or instruction for CT scans. Perform daily warm up and assigned quality control checks of the CT scanner.

+ Perform a full range of CT examinations including but not limited to; contrast and non contrast, angiography, 2/3D reconstruction head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities.

+ Performs numerous complex CT examinations on all anatomical areas for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Assists radiologists and/or other physicians in performing invasive diagnostic -techniques such as biopsies, aspirations, radiation therapy and interventional procedures.

+ Identify abnormalities during testing and determine need for additional scans of affected area. Notify physician of significant scans requiring immediate attention.

+ Maintain and clean CT equipment on a regular basis in accordance with Radiology department standards. Stock and maintain an adequate level of supplies required to perform CT examinations. Recommend necessary monthly repairs when diagnostic quality is degraded.

+ Make minor adjustments to equipment. Differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognize electronic equipment limitations. Program the examination equipment. Set up the machine and scanning techniques to be employed. Perform all CT examinations according to department protocols.

+ Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest. Perform other related duties as assigned.
