Position Overview

As a Staff Accountant you will ensure that the accounting department operates smoothly and handle communications between the different parts of the accounting department, other support center functions, bar operators and other external parties. You will maintain records, prepare financial reports, and ensure that all work is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP and company, state, and federal financial regulations. We are a small Company, so all leaders at Bar Louie are willing to cross train and evolve their workload as needed.

  Position Responsibilities

• Manage interfaces between the POS system and the general ledger system
• Reconcile sales posted to the general ledger to the sales recorded in the POS system
• Process and post journal entries
• Analyze Income Statement and Balance Sheet Accounts and prepare reconciliations
• Review bar level P&L’s and conduct variance analysis and propose adjusting journals
• Work with third party utility processor and book month end accruals
• Work with third party sales and use tax preparer to ensure complete, accurate and timely filings
• Accurately record and reconcile beverage taxes and other sales related taxes
• Record company purchase card expenses
• Account for pre-paid expenses and related amortizations
• Reconcile bar level deferred revenue accounts

• Prepare audit work papers as needed for year-end audit
• Other accounting duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles
• Ability to organize and prioritize in order to meet strict deadlines
• Ability to problem solve and trouble-shoot quickly
• Ability gather and analyze large amounts of data quickly
• Keen attention to detail
• Minimum intermediate Excel skills with proficiency in Office 365 suite of products including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
• Experience with OCR based AP system preferred
• Experience with Business Central accounting software preferred

Education and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field with minimum of 1 years’ experience preferred
• Associate degree in accounting, business or related field or 5+ years accounting experience required

Basic Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, talk via Cloud Based video conferencing and the phone, hear, and manipulate objects. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
