Job description

The Department of Human Services (DHS), Polk Center, is looking for a Water Treatment Plant Operator for our facility. This position is part of the Polk Center stay-behind maintenance team and will remain operational after the facility closure.

In this role, you will perform a variety of duties at the Water Treatment Plant, and ensure potable water for the facility, Polk Fire Department and the Polk Post Office. You will conduct water testing and monitor the distribution system, clear the stream water intake and raw water well to eliminate debris, inspect the chlorinators, perform minor housekeeping tasks, and record monthly data for submission to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and other interested agencies. Work Schedule and Additional Information: - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirement:
- You must meet the special requirements of the position.
Special Requirements: - You must possess a valid certificate issued by the State Board for the Certification of Waterworks Operators for the class and type of water treatment plant operated (Class C or greater and E; Sub Classes 1, 6, 8 and 11).
- All candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License that is not currently under suspension.

- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
