Job description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual for a full-time position as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or CPC-Apprentice. Join our dynamic team in a large multi-specialty group, where you will have the chance to work collaboratively with experienced CPCs across various specialties.

Position: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A)

Location: Chesapeake and Virginia Beach

Responsibilities:

Review charge tickets, progress notes, and op notes to accurately apply CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
Evaluate denied claims in the coding review queue for multispecialty claims, identifying corrections for timely payment.
Participate in month-end closing processes, including potential extended hours and weekend shifts during month-end blackout dates (approximately the last week of the month).
Maintain required annual CEUs.
Contribute to special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

Must be licensed as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A).
Effective and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
Positive attitude and helpful demeanor.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proactive self-starter with a willingness to learn and grow.
General knowledge of standard office equipment.
Previous experience in a medical office is a plus.
Education and/or Experience:

CPC or CPC-A certification is required.
